What Invitetale keeps about you, why, who sees it, and how to have it removed — written with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind.

What we keep

  • When you sign in with Google: your name, email address, the link to your profile picture, and the number Google uses for your account. We never see your Google password.
  • What you put in your invitation: the names of the couple and your families, parents’ names, ceremony dates, times and venues, the family phone numbers you add, your story and your photos.
  • Your guest list: the families you add, the WhatsApp numbers you give for them, and whether you have sent each one their link.
  • When a family opens their link: how many times it was opened and when — nothing about the person who opened it, and never your own visits. Opens of your invitation’s shared link are only counted.
  • Wishes from guests: the name and message a guest leaves on your invitation. Guests do not sign in.
  • Payments: Razorpay takes your payment. We receive only its reference numbers, the amount and whether it succeeded — never your card, UPI or bank details.
  • To keep your account safe: which browser you signed in from, and for a few minutes the network address a wish was sent from, so one phone cannot flood an invitation.

Why we keep it

To let you make, preview and publish your invitation; to show it to the people you send it to; to take your payment and keep the records the law asks of us; to answer your messages; and to keep the site safe from misuse.

We do not sell your information, we show no advertising, and we never use your invitation to promote Invitetale without asking you first.

Who can see it

  • Your draft, your guest list and who has opened it are seen only by you, while signed in.
  • Your published invitation can be opened by anyone who has its link, and families may forward it. Search engines are asked not to list it. Photos are kept at random addresses that appear only inside your invitation.
  • The services we rely on: Google (for signing in), Razorpay (for payments) and our hosting provider (which stores the site and your invitation). They use your information only to provide their service to us.
  • When the law requires it: we share information if an Indian court or authority lawfully asks for it.

People in your invitation

Your invitation and guest list hold other people’s details — family names, phone numbers, photos. Please add them only with their agreement. If someone asks us to remove their details from an invitation, we will tell you and help you do it.

Cookies

We use one cookie, to keep you signed in for up to 60 days. There are no advertising or tracking cookies. An invitation’s page also notes, in the guest’s own browser and never sent to us, when it was last opened there, so that opening it again within half an hour is not counted twice.

How long we keep it

  • Your account: until you delete it — My invitations → Delete my account — or ask us to.
  • A published invitation: it stays live until one year after the last ceremony in it. Then it goes offline, and we delete it — with its photos and wishes — within 30 days.
  • A draft never published: deleted after 12 months without any change.
  • Payment records: for as long as Indian tax law requires.

Your rights

You can see, correct and complete your information — most of it yourself, in the editor — and delete your account and invitations yourself at any time (My invitations → Delete my account). You can also ask us for a copy of what we hold, to delete your account and invitations, to withdraw your consent, or to name someone to act for you. To do any of this, write to us through the Contact page. We reply within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Keeping it safe

Everything travels over encrypted connections, sign-in codes are stored only in a form that cannot be turned back into the code, and access to your data is kept to the people who run Invitetale. No system is perfectly secure: if a breach affects your information, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Invitetale is for adults planning a wedding. You must be 18 or older to make an account.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change matters to you, we will also tell you by email.
