The season of the chinar

The chinar is Kashmir's own tree, its leaves turning red and gold each autumn. This invitation opens with them: Dal Lake lies under fallen leaves until guests tap, and a gust sweeps them away.

Then guests travel as they scroll — a shikara at dawn, the chinars, a carved walnut hall, a terraced garden, the peaks at sunset, lanterns on the lake — each painting dissolving into the next.

Sent as a link, it reaches the family in Srinagar, Jammu, Delhi and abroad on the same evening.

How Chinar opens

A gust sweeps away the fallen chinar leaves, and guests glide across Kashmir as they scroll.

  1. 01

    A gust of chinar leaves

Dal Lake lies under fallen leaves. One tap, a few santoor notes and a gust, and the leaves whirl away.

  2. 02

    A journey as you scroll

Six paintings, each dissolving into the next, carry your names, your families' words, your story, your ceremonies, the days left and your closing words.

  3. 03

    Every ceremony in papier-mâché

Each ceremony has its own painting in a papier-mâché frame: henna and kahwa, the bride's taranga and dejhoor, a copper trami of wazwan, a tumbaknari and a santoor.

  4. 04

Your story in the walnut hall

Your words in a carved walnut hall, and your photos in papier-mâché frames.

  5. 05

    The peaks at sunset

The days left, counted over the snow peaks as the sun goes down.

  6. 06

A chinar leaf for every wish

Lanterns on the lake carry your closing words, and every wish is a chinar leaf that rustles when tapped.

Questions families ask

Can we name the ceremonies as we do at home?

Yes. Start from Engagement, Mehendi, Wedding and Reception and rename any of them — Kasamdry, Maenziraat, Posh Puza, Lagan — or add a ceremony of your own.

Can guests skip the journey?

Yes. A "Skip to the celebrations" link stays on screen all through it, for anyone in a hurry to find the times and places.

Is it only for an autumn wedding?

No. The chinar belongs to Kashmir, not to one season; it suits a Kashmiri wedding in any month.

How do we send it to relatives abroad?

Add each family once with its WhatsApp number. Each gets its own link that greets them by name, wherever they live now, and opens on any phone.

What does it cost?

You can make it and try it for free. It's ₹1,999 once to send it, however many families you invite.
